I've felt a lot of negative emotions toward the things that have been happening to ICE detainees and in this country as a whole, but this is the first time that I've gone from desensitized or frustrated to truly feeling sickened and horrified. This is genuinely gut-wrenching to read, a sensation that I very rarely feel. There is a certain threshold of dehumanization that you need to cross to go from justifying inhumane detainment conditions to feeling free to slice open a human body with the intent of forcefully sterilizing them without their desire or consent.

I honestly have nothing of value to add to this discussion other than expressing the pure, unbridled disgust, loathing, and shock that I feel right now.

I have several friends who organize nurses etc for people living in hiding here in Sweden who need medical care and its trickier and trickier each year as more and more of the xenophobia laced authoritarianism of the populist right seeps in to our societies and the medical care communities.
It's still possible, but its harder.

When it comes to reproduction and women - that is a huge chunk of racisms battle field. Antifeminism and the idea of "outbreeding" are massive within that ideology and like in a lot of battle fields women are dehumanized enough due to it that many have no compunction seeing attacks on a womans reproductive rights, or just human rights, as fair game.

In Canada as well, with a particularly malicious focus on the Indigenous. I thought I was desensitised to the crimes of the Trump-era government, but the article was hard to read. It made me sick.
