We live in the weirdest timeline. If someone wrote a scene of a protest leader giving a speech while clad in a rubber duck onesie I would call them out for being too unrealistic, and yet this is where we find ourselves.
I think it's a symptom of the existential dread most of us feel deep down. The part of us that knows that this era of humanity is drawing rapidly to a close, and we may well have cursed this planet to end up like Venus.
My family deals with pain and suffering with dark and absurd humour. I think much of humanity is doing the same, at least subconsciously.
That kind of explains why the inspiration of every 80s villain became president.
I'll tell you what, if the world is ending, at least the headlines will be entertaining. I never thought we'd see something as seemingly innocuous as a rubber ducky become the symbol of a revolution. How're we going to explain this to the kids in the future?
