This is Mitch's worse nightmare. Not only does he now know his eventual fate as senate minority leader, but the senate is now doing a controversial vote which will splinter the GOP - something he has spent 6 years avoiding by simply refusing to put controversial votes in the agenda. Push comes to shove and now every GOP senator has to give a straight up answer on whether or not they really support Trump's "victory". No more wish-washing about "he has the legal right to contest" or whatever.
Now he just argued against Trump and like 1/3 of his Senate. And likely a majority of Republicans will vote with him, and that can't be good for unity lol.
Coming off of election night it looked like the GOP did well for themselves even if Trump lost, but it has become a disaster in the meantime.
Also it's kinda insane that Mitch McConnell was the voice of reason among Republicans, speaking about upholding democratic principles, etc. while Cruz is off in lala conspiracy land.

There were going to be protests and demonstrations in DC, so worth asking why there weren't more security personnel in the area.
