    Sedition laws have always bothered the hell out of me. We have them in Canada too, though the last time they were used was during the Conscription Crisis of 1944.

    If a State feels they cannot stand up to open public scrutiny, criticism and calls for challenge to their authority on their own merits, then that is a failed, authoritarian State IMO. Note that those are in regards to words however, which are distinct from actual violent actions against the State (which can still often be justified when the State doesn't allow words against them to be spoken in the first place).

    I was not aware of what was going on in Fiji but I am glad to hear that Freedom of the Press won over authoritarianism there. Thanks for sharing.
