The article describes the ways many people find it intuitive to value things by their inputs, rather than outputs. However, it seems like it's also intuitive to say that value is relative? One person's trash is another's treasure. When selling used stuff like antiques, we all understand that it is worth what someone will pay for it.

It seems to follow that there is value in finding the best use for stuff. This is what all trade is built on: taking stuff that is undervalued where you find it and delivering it to people who want it more.
