    The title badly represents the complexity of the issues discussed in the article - a rare but deadly disease that kills both horses and humans; an expensive, rushed vaccine; poor public policy messaging; and an ecological management problem that's leading to increasing zoonosis exposure.

    [On a personal note, I've had a cat die from vaccine-associated sarcoma due to FeLV vaccine (about a 1 in 1000 risk). I still wouldn't hesitate to get another pet vaccinated, given the incidence, drawn-out suffering, and mortality caused by FeLV. Even more so if the virus threatened humans.]
