This is a hopeful pilot Phase I trial, no one had a major adverse outcome, but don't expect legal medicalized psychedelics any time soon.

MAPS has a trial in phase III, and the FDA has given the PTSD therapy the "breakthrough therapy" designation, which is apparently meant to fast-track treatments through the phases. With the rates of unheard of success they're having with PTSD and depression, I think we'll be seeing products sooner rather than later.

Edit: I forgot to mention another rather important piece; We are at a time where drug scheduling (at least in the U.S.) is finally being seriously questioned, even by lawmakers.

Do you have a source for this? I don't think this is true, and I've been watching MAPS for well over a decade. I think this is going to be an uphill battle for many analogues and other psychedelics which have potentially great therapeutic benefit.

Although, to be fair, I thought they'd never manage to get MDMA rescheduled and here we are, so maybe some minds are finally waking up to the science thirty years late.

You're probably right, I did definitely overstate the extent of lawmaker interest. I suppose I'm (naively) hoping that the with the growing support of bills like "The Marijuana Justice Act", and with people like Bernie Sanders touching on how silly the scheduling aspects are, that we'll see some renewed interest in fixing the system. But in hindsight, that's a huge leap of faith.
