This isn't unexpected within the Intelligence community. All the knowledge has been brought in house. Much easier to manage leaks, availability, training, costs, etc.

Thanks! It sounds like there is group that want that version so moving forward I'll try to post it in the comments when posting from the text-only NPR site.

Text only looks nice on my phone but on my laptop it means the text flows too wide since there isn't any styling constraining the width.

So, you think they're a bunch of pussies?

I don't know anything about these guys – which may be unsurprising, given that their work (used to) remain withint he purview of the Department of Defence, and those folks ain't quite open about the things they're working on. They work for (from?) Mitra Corporation – alright, cool; not enlightening in any capacity, but good to know. More than $1bn in revenue annually? Good to know.

Even then, your ranting seems misplaced. Their lack of public accolades does not add confidence to their case, granted, though their secrecy is understandable. It's not "only one, that didn't even work", though: it's at least three projects of various levels of effectiveness.

Perhaps they do want a patron to fund their ambitions and expertise. I wouldn't know: I don't have a sugar daddy. Maybe this is how they communicate their intent. From where I'm standing, though, it sounds like you went off at a bunch of people who didn't quite deserve it.

I’d be interested to see how much this group looks into information-warfare style and influence campaign threats. With the 2020 election just a year and a half away, I definitely think it’s a little shady for the Pentagon to start cutting intelligence sources.

Then again, this is just one group of academics in an unseen sea of intelligence agents and other intelligence organizations. Losing one, however skilled they may be, probably won’t damage overall counterintelligence operations. Yet, it’s still a sign that other cuts may come, and that makes me nervous.
