I haven't studied very many of his ideas (of which there are many), but the concept of a Dyson Sphere holds a special place in my imagination. I can't remember which work of scifi I first encountered it in, but it was mind-blowing for my young mind to try and comprehend. I've always considered it a reminder of never to think small, even if it seems impractical right now, someday....
