At the limits of thought: Science today stands at a crossroads--will its progress be driven by human minds or by the machines that we’ve created?

After reading the article, there's a well-reasoned response in the comments on aeon.co by user "P D" dated April 20, 2020, which contends that the author is presenting a false dichotomy.
