Finland has been held up as an international example to follow in tackling homelessness but the Nordic country has just reported its first rising numbers in eleven years

    One increase after 11 years is amazing, the reduction of homelessness they've achieved is incredible. The title makes it sound like they shouldn't be an aspirational example, which just isn't true.

    Homelessness in Finland has declined from around 16,000 people in 1986 when ARA started conducting national homelessness surveys to around 3,800 people in the present day.

    The title makes it sound like they shouldn't be an aspirational example, which just isn't true.

      Right, when they note that rising rents and government cuts seem to be the cause. Yeah, if you cut funding as housing gets less affordable you won't improve the situation.
