Once people start getting affected in their day to days (especially people that can afford to travel) they're gonna start paying more attention. Really hope the Dems can get better at their messaging though and not cave.

It's not clear to me why any of them are showing up for work they're not being paid for? I guess some absurd law is at play? Or is it just fear of reprisal down the road and insufficient labour power?

I'm pretty sure they'll get back-pay once the money starts flowing again. Don't show up and you'll never get that money. And it's not like they can quit and go work for a competitor.
