After pushing anti-trans laws to "protect women’s sports", Project 2025’s Heritage Foundation now wants to eliminate women's sports to "assist fertility"

And they take and they take and they take.
So if we could stop thinking that sacrificing trans women, trans people, gender non conforming cis people is a necessary thing to appease the right now, that would be great.

I believe that women's sports are still the side show for the fascists that want to control my body and my "fertility"; revoking Title IX would do much more damage than cutting women's sports (which it would do). But that alone would still be devastating.
First they came for etc etc etc
This is so outright disgusting but I find myself wondering how many Americans (1) just don't care, or worse (2) agree with this slime ooze. What actually unites the states or is it just a collection of individuals who don't care about anyone else as long as they got theirs.
I know many Americans care and care plenty and have been fighting every front for years.... It's a story that's happened to many people around the world, having to leave home for a better life, but it's never happened to America before until now. I know many can't leave and when people do leave en masse it gets worse for those who stay behind. But at the same time I'm having doubts as to how it would be possible to get rid of all the horrible selfish ideas that have taken root in America. Outst Trump, push back on all these slime ooze, wait a generation for the most selfish and hateful bunch to die off naturally, I guess.
It's not like most Germans cared about what happened, hence the poem. Most folks don't care what doesn't happen to them.... Probably not most, I'm just cynical..We fought for these rights before. We could do it again. We just shouldn't have to. And like before people will suffer and die for it.
From the beginning of bathroom laws this was always going to be about controlling women by making clear delineations in publicly acceptable dress and behavior by sex... and removing protections against sex based dress codes means women can't even expect to wear pants at work. Transmisogyny is misogyny. Sexism often underlies homophobia.
They have already demanded women be incubators even when dead and when that isn't appealing they want to take away rights, and force women into a life where the only options are marriage without divorce. (I'm sure like always this mostly applies to middle class white women as black women and poor women have always worked....)
They have openly talked about repealing the 19th.
They have openly talked about institutionalizing people. How long before the crazy women who don't want kids get sent away for their retraining? And before anyone says they can't, that doesn't mean they don't want to.
Let's stop them now, and not defend or appease them.
And I wonder if anyone will say "this is good for women actually because then the right wing men will leave them alone."
You're right, these had been hard fought for and must be fought for again and again. Regardless of what we all wish would instead be the case, this is the reality that uterus having people face in America. What more could we ask protesters to do?
In our region, this week, protesters surrounded a politician's car and the politician had to be escorted back into the building he came out of, cowering like the street rat that he is. And then every talking head talks about his barely smashed in rear windshield but not at all about his rolling his car despite protestors or the untold damage he's done to indigenous communities, our libraries, our kids or our environment. "Violence is never acceptable" but only for protesters.
Maybe it's time for citizens to re-evaluate how to protest the violence politicians enact on us.
As a further policy reification of the imagined gender binary, we have this: Hegseth announces annual testosterone screenings for service members.
I don't think there's any surprise at this point that the Project 2025 guys and the rest of the Christofascists are all-in on "Kinder, Küche, Kirche" for AFABs and creation of prime cannon fodder for AMABs.
Oh so now gender affirming treatment is fine. Weird how it's always fine on cis men and usually maybe ok on cis women.
That is what I've been
sayingScreaming for a while now.The summary from the heritage people reads as follows:
And here's the specifics of what they're calling for:
You can - and I do - disagree with them, but "they want to end women's sports" is such an exaggeration that I think it's doing more harm than good here.
So they start by saying, women shouldn't have to receive the same outcomes with Title IX, then they say it's ok to cut some women's sports for "hiking clubs". The idea that schools, who only have so many women's sports as they do because they need to balance their football teams, will keep more than whatever legally required minimum someone sets (and what would that be), is believing that this time they won't take another inch after we give them one.
Never mind that colleges offer all of these fitness classes and hiking clubs and the like already, this all exists... So why cut women's sports again?
Well of course they're doing it so women will be less likely to postpone having children ("more oriented toward motherhood" to mirror his language) and less likely to stop menstruating or take birth control to do so, to keep competing. Their premise is misogynistic garbage and their outcome is misogynistic garbage. I mean they're not saying men should stop playing violent sports where their testicles get compressed and crushed and torqued despite a cup doing its best... What if they became infertile?!
Crickets
And that ignores the fact that just because they say they would keep some sports doesn't mean that they don't want to eliminate them. Personally I think they absolutely do based on the entire context of their statements.
But I agree they don't only want to eliminate women's sports, they want to destroy Title IX entirely.
They want women out of schools, without means to address sexual assault in schools, without "unladylike" activities, without freedom or rights at all. That's what they want.
I beg folks to stop trying to rationalize the fascism and insist we're exaggerating. It is a clear and direct line from what they want and the return of second class status for women. I literally have fewer rights today than a decade ago, and they would want me forced into a dress, unable to escape an abusive marriage, forced back into the closet.
We do not need to give them the benefit of the doubt, or even defend them. It's absolutely unnecessary. But especially when doing so requires ignoring everything else project 2025 and The Heritage Foundation argues for.
Tl;Dr I cannot express how clearly obvious it is to me that they do in fact want that without either a million words or name calling. They laid out a roadmap and claiming that they don't actually want to take the route that they mapped feels like denial, gaslighting, or naivete.
Given everything we've seen this administration do, I'm not sure how you can think what they've said is an exaggeration.
Or that somehow it's doing more harm than good. Literally how.
