Yuki out in Q1 at P18. We're very nearly at the half of the season. I was hoping he'd be starting top 10 and up regularly by now. Guess not. 2nd seat curse continues.

Though to be fair to him, the car is so trash that even Max, the racing god himself, can't even keep up with the McLarens.

    We'll see what happens tomorrow.

I was hoping Piastri could catch Norris, but the backmarker traffic got in the way. That move by Colapinto was pretty wild. Not sure what he was thinking. Not that I think that really cost Piastri in the end. Norris was on the ball today, so good for him.

    Onward to Silverstone!

I thought about this during the race. For the sport itself, it's awesome that there are two drivers competing at the edge for most of the race. For the McLaren team, it's a huge risk to allow it. But it does benefit McLaren too when the race is more interesting. The main problem with Red Bull dominance the last few years is that there hasn't been a teammate for Max who could make the race interesting.

I think Norris had his number on Sunday - just. I also thought it was fascinating seeing Piastri's normally unshakeable coolness crack a little - that lock-up in the dive at the end of the straight making the move a little marginal, almost desperate. I think Norris should be looking at that very, very closely and realising that Piastri isn't an absolute machine, Norris can be fast enough to unsettle him.

Having said that, I think there are a handful of driver (namely Verstappen, Leclerc and Russell) who, if given that car, would be curb-stomping whichever current McLaren driver you left in the other seat. Norris/Piastri are both getting lucky, which is fair enough.

Just watched the F2 Sprint Race. Crazy wrecks and another great example of how the halo saves lives.

It's surprising how little commentary there was on that, especially after all the previous talk about how Lawson wasn't good enough for the second Redbull seat. Yuki out in Q1 while both Racing Bulls made it to Q2 and then Lawson ahead of Verstappen shows that Racing Bulls have a better handle on their car than Red Bull.

Also, I don't think any of the commentators mentioned it, but it looks like the reason Verstappen backed off his lap is because he already entered Sector 3 when Gasly spun and the yellow flags came out.

They did mention that a bit when it happened, and that definitely helped out Lawson, but also Verstappen had the opportunity to put in a decent lap at the beginning of Q3 with fresh tires and didn't. So although I get the argument a bit, I don't think it 100% excuses Verstappen of everything

Oh no, it definitely doesn't. He has been off form the entire season. I just found it odd that it wasn't mentioned and I guess I just missed it. Or maybe I was watching a different broadcast (I honestly cannot stand Alex Jacques, but Davide Valsecchi and David Coulthard are too entertaining not to listen to).

its kind of funny because we're seeing the view of North America through the eyes of motorsport. For the failed Formula E in Vancouver, the music was going to be Nickleback and some other bullshit nobody likes. I sincerely think that Sky thought 'here's an American-hot former driver --- they'll love her!'

The second anyone starts spouting the shit she does on her podcast, they should be let go... or thrown off a cliff.

I did really well this week in my pool

    Driver Bet
    Lando Norris Pole, 1st Place
    Charles Leclerc 3rd Place
Oscar Piastri 2nd Place, Fastest Lap, (Driver of the Day)
    Liam Lawson 1st for F1.5
Max Verstappen (5+ to Podium, Weekly Bet (first w/ track limits warning))
    Gabriel Bortoleto 3rd F1.5
    Pierre Gasly (2nd F1.5)
    Lance Stroll (Retire, Last Place)
    Nico Hulkenberg Most Places Gained

I put incorrect picks in brackets. Overall I scored 11pts, which is close to my best.
