Many more for a real amateur like myself. Plus you can do great on 17 holes, but shitting the bed on one just blows your score up. Really satisfying when you get a good hit though.

You'll knock a great approach shot into the green or a great drive in the middle of the fairway then completely flub your next stroke. But that one good shot is what keeps people coming back.
Also, putting requires such a vastly different set of skills than the long game. You could be amazing tee to green, but if you 3 putt once you're on the green, your scores will reflect that.
