I can't read the whole article because of the paywall, but Jerry Jones only cares about Jerry Jones. And his hardline stance on this is going to resonate with a lot of people here in Texas and a lot of conservatives across the US. And since the Cowboys are the only team that are not a part of the NFL's profit sharing, every dollar that people spend on Cowboys merch goes right to Jerruh. And he only backs Papa John's because he owns a share in so many franchises through the Cowboys. From a "doing what's best for Jerry Jones" standpoint he's acting very intelligently.

That being said, I'd love to see some high-profile players challenge his "stand or leave" decree. This whole coerced patriotism thing is a crock of shit and I've love to see his bullshit rules come back to bite him in the ass. I doubt they will though, because the primary concern of most NFL players is making enough money in their short career to live off for the rest of their lives. And as we've seen with other players, taking a stand doesn't sit well with NFL owners regardless of their public rhetoric.
