No presidents trophy winner has ever been swept in the first round in the history of the NHL.

Tampa Bay Lightning tied for the most wins in a regular season ever with 62, and cruised into playoffs nearly 20 pts ahead of the second place team in the league.

What a fucking story. It’s been a long 10 years rooting for them, but this payoff is pure ecstasy.

A second thought coming less as a CBJ fan and more as a hockey fan: I am so excited to see if teams start gambling more around the trade deadline. Columbus had 2 or 3 Unrestricted Free Agents (UFAs) in 2 time Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovski and star forward Artemi Panarin and I think someone else (sorry, still mentally fried from celebrating last night). Then at the trade deadline we traded away almost all our draft picks as well as solid AHL players for MORE UFAs in great forward Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingle. I believe Nash is also a UFA at the end of this season. Basically we gambled the future of our team for this season because it was a foregone conclusion that Panarin and Bobrovski are going to walk this year and so we are going all in while we have them. And it clearly is paying off. I wonder if other teams will make similar trades and pushes. I hope so. I think the boom or bust trades could make for interesting storylines (also bc we are looking like a boom so I want to see a team try it and bust and laugh at them)

I'm not sure about Bob, but iirc it seemed to be the case that Panarin wasn't sure that he wanted to leave Columbus. Hopefully for CBJ fans he decides to re-sign with them, although I can't see how they would do so given that him, Bob, Duchene, and most importantly Werenski are up for contracts after this season.

But all in all, no matter what happens this season, the GM looks like a genius for doing this and hopefully the next few seasons don't hurt too bad for CBJ fans.

Bob is almost 100% out the door. He wants a 9M+ contract and his attitude has been so shitty this year that he got an internal suspension for one game. I can't imagine him sticking around unless we win the cup, and even then I am not sold. Panarin is a bit weirder but I think a deep run could keep him around. I think most realistic is we hold onto Werenski, Duchene, Dzingle, and maybe Panarin. I could see Bob, Wennberg, and Panarin being gone in some combination for a new goalie and some pieces.

Edit: Also here is an article that talks more about the trade on the worst formatted website: https://thehockeywriters.com/columbus-blue-jackets-duchene-dzingel-trades-all-in/

You're fine. I got up at 3:30am to see off my partner on a flight after being up most the night celebrating. 3 hours of sleep and a hangover later I'm sure I phrased that comment in the least-understandable way possible. I'll come back in like an hour after I have coffee and attempt to clean it up.

My wet dream of a second round: CBJ vs Boston, Carolina vs Isles, Colorado vs Vegas, Blues vs Dallas. I think NBC's brains would melt.
