Kimi's performance this year has been good; but with Giovinazzi such an unknown quantity it is very hard to ascertain exactly how well he is driving. I think there is a strong case to be made that a lot of people are underrating the performance of the very tidy C38 package. It is not without good reason that Simone Resta is held in high regard in the paddock.

With that said, it has been an enormous pleasure to watch Kimi fighting in the midfield with drivers half his age who have never known a Formula 1 without him in it. Although he no longer has the machinery to contest races, he remains one of the biggest stars of Grand Prix racing, and when he does call time on his career the sport will be poorer for his loss. As things stand, he remains set to take the all-time race entries record from Barrichello, which would be a fitting achievement for the Finn.
