MMA has always had its share of tinfoil. I think it goes back to the early days when it was a largely online community. It's an anti-establishment aspect of the sport, the "not-boxing" and having politicians calling it human cockfighting and trying to ban it lead to a lot of talk/feelings about how "we are right and the establishment is out to get us", both of which were true but being proven right about that leads to a lot of bullshit opinions simply because they go against the majority.
