At least until Aston Martin screwed up, costing Vettel his P2.

What do you think of the AM effort to contest the DSQ of Vettel?

The team is certainly within their right to appeal, and there probably is some additional fuel in there. But if the rule is that 1L or whatever must be taken out, and they weren't able to get a full liter out, I don't see how it's going to work now if it didn't work before. But hey, I'm not an engineer or mechanic -- I can barely change the oil in my car -- so what do I know?

Is it my hope that AM can pull this off? Absolutely. Vettel deserves P2...

...But I also need Hamilton to go back to P3 so that HAM/VER spread isn't so big!

It doesn't look likely to be a successful appeal. Planet F1 – 2nd August 2021

It doesn't look likely to be a successful appeal.

Respected Auto Motor und Sport reporter, Michael Schmidt, believes the team have little hope in keeping Vettel’s P2 intact.

“The fuel flow meter can be used as evidence for violations of the regulations,” he said.

“But not for the calculation of the tank content, even if the method is as precise as pumping out the fuel. Unfortunately, the regulations only allow physical evidence.

“Therefore, an appeal should have little chance, even if the calculation of the fuel flow rate proves Aston Martin right here.”

That was the most nuts race I've watched in a while. Alonso showing again why he's one of the all time greats!
