I'll upvote any soccer content on tildes! I was actually just doing some research on him for my Fantrax fantasy draft team since he'll hit the waiver wire soon.

Then the reality strikes. Rooting against teams I have a soft spot for because that week they're up against a team of scum and villainy who I just happened to have drafted heavily from. Neutral matches I could have been enjoying the spectacle of turn into a spectre of stress as vested interest in their cheap midfielder clouds the fun...

Saying that, I did really enjoy this summer's Euro 2020 fantasy league at my partner's work. Her football knowledge being poor, I helped out. We came fourth out of 32 and won ourselves a glamorous prize! That was fun.

Ha yea, I can understand that feeling of conflicting interests, but thankfully it's such a long league season where one GW doesn't matter too much, which makes it easier for me to enjoy the entertainment rather than getting hung up on every wrong decision or bad bit of luck. We have a group of 6 guys in our league, and we don't even put money on it. It's mainly just a way to keep in touch with them and follow the sport together.

Congrats on your win btw! I really enjoyed the tournament as a whole - there was a ton of entertaining international competition this summer that held me over pretty well until club started back. For the Euros instead of fantasy, we did a pick em. Most of the people that are in my fantasy league are also in a college football pick em group we do every year, so we busted out the google doc for Euros. We also did that for the single-elimination knockouts of the CL/EL last year.
