Congrats! I felt like the fish at the end of Finding Nemo, having finally escaped from the fish tank but still trapped in plastic bags, "...now what?"

Got an exam to sit this week which I've hardly revised for. I don't particularly want to do it because I've had little motivation to study. Heck, I've hardly played video games lately and that used to be one of my biggest vices.

I'm stuck in a rut which I attribute to relationship problems. In short, women have historically strung me along all the damn time and it's been a common theme throughout my adolescence and early adulthood. They pretend to be interested in me then either flake out or throw it back in my face. to illustrate my point

    • A girl I used to work with was flirting with me pretty hard. She eventually flaked on me when I tried to set up a date. A few more weeks later, she comes back crying to me because her boyfriend (who I had no knowledge of) dumped her. It turns out her parents freaked out when they found out that she had premarital sex with him. This pissed me off because in all the time she had been stringing me along and trying to inflate her ego, she was getting boned by another guy when I always saw her as the good religious girl who would wait until she is married. I never actually confronted her about it because I knew it would destroy our friendship but I wish I had. We barely talk now.

    • My long distance ex. We were at one point really close and things between us turned about as sexual as a LDR would allow. Then we finally met in person and had a second date that didn't go so well. Something about me turned her off, and I'm sure it was probably my fear of heights. We tried to remain friends but she ghosted me all the time, and eventually when I did confront her about the breakup I got a reply back so scathing that it made me think she never cared in the first place.

    • A girl I met a few months after my breakup. She lived in another city, was totally my type, had a similar interest in video games, was one of the few people that liked my crappy dad jokes, and we clicked really well. So well in fact that by the end of our first (and sadly only) date we spent almost a solid hour making out. We didn't sleep together that night because she was staying with her sister, but she invited me back to her place at a later date. Then less than a week later she drops the whole "this isn't gonna work between us, I'm sorry, I didn't want to lead you on" line. I wanted to tell her to go fuck herself for hurting my feelings like this but I'm far too nice for that.

I tried to do many things to escape this rut. I tried to get into the law of attraction and eventually Neville Goddard's teachings, because something at one point convinced me that my thoughts and emotions were manifesting events in the world around me. But soon I grew more skeptical when trying to be happier had no effect, and when I saw a load of profit-hungry LoA coaches on Reddit peddling these teachings like it was their own snake water. My recent efforts to go to the gym and get jacked were also born out of a feeling of inferiority and unhappiness with my own physique.

You can tell me to fuck off if you aren't looking for any advice or anything of the sort.

Focus on you. Work on bettering yourself physically and mentally. Strike up chats with random people while you're waiting in line, or chat with the person who's serving you, while they're serving you. The confidence you want is just being happy and being who you are. Find a look that works for you, that makes you comfortable, same with hairstyle and facial hair.

Figure out where/how you're comfortable meeting girls, and communicate. It's true, some girls will string you along like the first girl seemed to do. The second girl, your ex, may have been expecting something else, but I cannot say for sure. The third girl, I don't think she strung you along. You only went on a single date and made out. At the time she was interested but lost interest. She ended things nicely rather than stringing you along or ghosting you (both of which have happened to me).

From personal experience with trying to attract ladies: you'll lose more often than you win, and that's something you want. You don't want every girl to want you. You want the right girl to want you. And that always changes too. People change, they lose interest. It happens, and it hurts. Take it and learn from it, if you can. It may be your fault, it may be hers, it may not be anyone's.

Again, tell me to fuck off if you don't want to hear this and I can delete this post.

I want to do some kind of visual art, but the only thing I really have the skills to put together right now is video game shit. I hate the feeling of having something I want to express but no way to do it. Hopefully this will give me a new path.

I had a friend tackle that stuff in Cinema 4D, just started with re-creating game show graphics like Who's Line Is it Anyway and The Price is Right, etc.. Now he works full-time as a motion graphics artist in LA on some TV shows. It's good work if you can get in!

I wanna write a proper analysis or review of the last book I read, The Door Into Summer, by Robert A. Heinlein. It would be the second article on my website, that I created more than 6 months with the promise of weekly posts. I also wanna write at least the first act of a science fiction short story, probably involving artificial intelligence, but I'm having trouble starting it.

3D printing will definitely be a huge change going forward for bracers and retainers, for sure. I'd imagine that you eventually won't even need braces and that retainers would be able to do the work. And they'd be a helluva lot cheaper.

I'm not actually doing any CFD since that's hard and Bilstein has a rough guide on shim stacks that I'm going off of.

Week two of Couch 2 5k. I've done it twice before, it's just kind of become an annual tradition until winter rolls around and puts me back inside.

I hate it, but I hate all forms of exercise, and jogging seems like the most economic way to get it over with.

Other than that, I'm looking around for a weekly or bi-weekly board game night to partake in in my neighborhood. I don't think there's one to join, so I might have to start one myself with my neighbors using Nextdoor or something. I hate meeting new people, but all my close friends have mostly moved away, so I'm just gonna try it.

It's a chill week. My partner is on her week off so we're spending most evenings together (until Thursday when Dragon Quest Builders 2 is supposed to be deliver to my house, a day earlier than the release date lol good ol' Canada Post, being weird but finally at my benefit), which Thursday and Friday (or just Friday if I don't receive it Thursday) will be spent playing that.

Eventually planning on restarting my Godot Engine project from scratch, but I don't know if that will happen at all this week.
