What are you doing this week?

This is a place for ongoing discussion about the things you plan to do or have accomplished recently, even if that's nothing at all.

Or, if you want to just talk about how you're feeling, this is a good place to do that too.

You can find last week's topic here.

I start classes in three weeks, so the pressure to get things done before I get busy with school is ramping up.

I don't have too many things that I need to get done before classes start, but I have a bunch of stuff that I want to get done. First thing on that list is selling my 928. I really don't want to have to deal with selling a car and taking classes at the same time, so I'll be ecstatic if I can sell it before classes start, but I seriously doubt that will work out.

Anyways, in addition to hanging out with the family last weekend, I ended up helping a friend dig a drainage ditch around his property as well as cut up a few trees he had to cut down. He ended up with a lot of firewood, so there's going to be a bonfire soon, probably this weekend. That should be fun.

Later this week I will be replacing the ECU on my Miata. When the car was flooded, the ECU was sitting in water for longer than is healthy for a computer to be sitting in water, which is basically any amount of time at all. Everything still works, but I was checking the board and noticed some gnarly corrosion. ECUs aren't too expensive and they're one of the easiest parts of the car to replace, so I'm going to just do it and keep the old unit as a spare. The replacement should be delivered Thursday.

Other than that, I have a couple of writing and programming tasks I want to work on or complete:

    • Publish a Wikipedia page for the Sway window manager DONE

    • Help clean up and expand the Wikipedia page for the Tildeverse (Honestly, someone is probably going to come along and delete this page)

    • Publish rewrite of TAPS (Finally)

    • Finish up converting my jumble of notes for a task management program idea into some sort of coherent pseudo-documentation of what I'd like the program to be

    • Actually start writing a very basic program for my own task management, personal wiki, and daily journal keeping needs that will be nowhere near as cool or complex as the idea mentioned above

There's some other stuff, like tinkering with computers and what not, but I'm going to wait until I've actually finished some of those things to write about them.

I'm in my village, a very small village in the mountains, almost completely alone. I've been here since July 20th. I spend my time hiking and reading while I lay on the grass, all day alone except for my dog, and no sound besides the wind, some animals and the crickets (and the occasional tractor far away).

Before coming here this summer, I thought I was romanticizing the idea of being here alone (I've always been here with family or friends), and that I would get bored and lonely. Happily that's not the case, and I'm enjoying my time here very much. It seems like time doesn't pass here.

I'll probably leave in around ten days, but for now no worry besides what to read when I'm done with my current book.

Studying, mostly. I'm still slogging through integrals, aiming at getting to differential equations, but I think I should backtrack and tackle trigonometry. It is not one of my strong points. I'm making some decent - and consistent - progress, otherwise.

Otherwise... more studying, trying to increase my German vocabulary - I should work on my grammar but really, what I'm aiming at right now is understanding German texts - and generally shoving stuff into my brain.

I'm irritated because I just killed a flea today, and I don't know if they got inside the house - inside my bedroom - or if the one I caught was just a solitary hitchhiker, picked up just outside the door thanks to the wild cats who live near our house. In both cases, I foresee a lot of laundry and swearing and strange powders in the near future.

    I hate living near nature.

I don't otherwise have a lot planned for this week.
