I have the joy of doing my civic duty and am attending jury duty. I am currently assigned to a seat in the box, but, they have already eliminated several jurors and am thinking I may not be up there very much longer.

Edit: Juror #5 checking in. I never realized how hard people fight to avoid jury duty when a man’s life hangs in the balance. I guess someone’s possible freedom or lifetime incarceration isn’t worth three weeks of another persons October.

Otherwise I'm working, driving, and sleeping. Probably going to read more Dr. Stone on the evenings that she plays some Evil Within or something. I'd work on my game during that time but my laptop doesn't leave my house, as I hate lugging it around, and she has no desk at her place.

If I can convince myself to stop playing games, watching tv, and reading books...I will finally get started on doing my Linux+ certification course. Was meaning to do it a couple weeks ago, but got delayed by family health issues. And now I'm being my typical self and procrastinating forever for no real good reason besides I don't feel like it at the moment.

This week is my third week of school. Tuesdays, today, I wake up at 4:30 am so I can get to campus on time, and I just got home about 30 minutes ago10ish. It's rough, but I like it. Not the getting up at 4:30, but the school bit. I can't believe I can finally do this. That I can finally do this and have no other responsibilities. Like I can study all the time, anytime, whenever. I never thought this could be me. And I am doing okay.

Besides work, I will just be trying to get through this week with my stir-crazy father in the house, who is desperate to get back to work.

So far, I'm thinking of getting a used Dell Latitude 7490 or 7390. The 7390 is a bit more compact, but the 7490 has two DIMM slots.. I'm also kinda considering a Thinkpad x220 because I find the keyboard and overall clunkiness kind of endearing, but I'm sure the battery life is nearly non-existent.

I'm a Mac user myself, but have read recently that a bunch of Chromebooks make great Linux machines. They reach a point where they are no longer supported by Google software wise, so people have begun installing different Linux versions on them to extend their life. You might look into that, as I'm sure there are some decent machines out there that could be repurposed for cheap.

Yea, I was considering those at one point...but I think I'd like to have a "real computer" that I can switch operating systems on willy-nilly. Plus...MORE POWER.

I'm dealing with a partner that is 99% certainly depressed but refuses help, refuses to acknowledge something is wrong and is constantly lashing out at everyone.

Wit's end, have talked to professionals, I've had depression myself, so I'm pretty well versed in the symptoms and strategies for attacking it, but nothing works unless the person is willing. Not a happy camper this week...

(all other stuff's good, so that's a plus)
