What do you think about sex dolls?

I personally see it like a stereotypical microtransaction to skip a mission in a mobile game. It costs a lot (at least for now for sex dolls), skips a mission for you and likely has some ethical issues, but if it skips the mission then someone's gonna buy it and might as well be you. (Well, at least that's what I'd presume. Also, life isn't very comparable to a mobile game.)

I have no ethical concerns whatsoever regarding sex dolls. It's an equipment meant for pleasure — most frequently of the sexual kind — in the same vein of vibrators or fleshlights. The ability to achieve pleasure using a device poses no threat to general welfare.

They can, however, be unhealthy on a personal level, which is very different from wrong. "Pleasure helpers" can harm the sexual and emotional life of some individuals, while being entirely beneficial for others (including but not limited to persons with disabilities). Manufacturers have no obligation whatsoever to anticipate the psychological makeup of their clients. That is the responsibility of the clients themselves, and, when unable to do so, their closest friends and relatives, as well as health systems in general and the mental health community in particular.

True for sex dolls, but not true for micro-transactions

    gives free stuff

True for sex dolls, but not true for micro-transactions (you have to repeatedly buy micro-transactions)

and likely has some ethical issues

I get that might apply for micro-transactions, but I am not sure I agree about ethical issues regarding sex dolls

but someone's gonna buy it and might as well be you

Ahhhhhhhh, that will be a big no on both of those for me, but that is just because I am "frugal."

Yeah, I am not sure I get the parallel there.

In retrospect sex dolls resembled a specific type of microtransaction to me and it was those micro-transactions you pay to automatically accomplish a mission or level like in Temple run or candy crush and I have edited my analogy accordingly.

I get that might apply for micro-transactions, but I am not sure I agree about ethical issues regarding sex dolls

There are people making sex dolls of children, which definitely shows ethical concerns to me, although the reasoning given by the maker is definitely agreeable to me.

The first 2 are effectively wiped by the new, better analogy.

That is not related to sex dolls though. It’s related to the children part. That would be like saying there are ethical issues with kitchen knives because someone used a kitchen knife to stab someone.
