I don't buy into paranormal / LGM explanations for these things but I've read enough accounts and seen enough videos of fast-moving aerial lights suddenly changing direction. Something's clearly going on there. Unfortunately all the discussion around the subject I've seen tends to veer into kooky territory pretty quickly. I'd love to entertain some grounded explanations if anyone has any.
On the conspiracy theory side, I guess I'm open to secret military test cover-ups or foreign surveillance ops... but not sci-fi neutrino-wave quantum levitation or far-out "alien" tech. Do we know of anything capable of this sort of flight today? I've seen astoundingly precise maneuvers, with rapid directional changes, performed by multi-rotor drones. Could that account for it?

I've had a bit of interest in UFOs rekindled with the recent acknowledgement from the US government that UFOs are spotted every day and they have no idea what they are. The classic hypotheses are that they're either ultra secret USA technology, ultra secret technology from another country, or they're alien technology. I think it's just as interesting, definitely more interesting than secret technology, to consider that these may be natural phenomena that we have no understanding of. So more of a Bigfoot situation than Little Green Men.

I love UFOs and think it's exciting that you saw one! I saw one, about 25 years ago. I was in my late 20s and my friend was in their late 60s and we were on the beach. I had been drinking, but they were sober. The light was moving zig zaggy through the upper sky, then seemed to come towards us getting brighter, then it seemed to zip straight up. As it seemed to go up, we watched it get dimmer and dimmer until we couldn't see it anymore. It was a huge wow moment that we still talk about. My friend is sure it was of alien origin, but for me, it was just an unexplained cool thing I saw.
I'm jealous. I have never seen a UFO or any strange lights in the sky, even though I have always wanted to. And sadly I have never really experienced any phenomena I couldn't easily explain...

When I was in my teens and visiting some relatives in Kelowna, BC, I saw something strange on Okanagan Lake while we were camping next to it. It was really early in the morning, nobody else from my family was up yet, the water was exceptionally calm, and there weren't any boats on the lake yet (at least that I could see), but suddenly a decent sized wave with a V shaped wake trailing behind it rose up out of nowhere in the middle of the lake. It continued moving in the same direction for a few seconds and then the wave disappeared, but the wake kept traveling across the entire lake.
The only explanations I can think of are either someone was using a submersible and took it close to the surface of the lake for a brief moment (unlikely, especially 25 years ago and that early in the morning), I witnessed some sort of unusual tidal phenomena (e.g. a tidal bore but more narrowly focused and short lived)... or I saw Ogopogo (Canadian Nessie). I'm definitely not one to attribute things to superstitious, mystical, paranormal, or pseudo-scientific reasons, so I suspect it was a probably just a tidal phenomena of some sort, but I still have yet to see an example of any that look similar to what I witnessed... so occasionally I still like to imagine that perhaps I really did see Ogopogo that day. ;)
If a fish is big enough it can make those V shapes, though if it had an actual wake behind it that'd have to be some freaky fish, or perhaps a school of them. I get those Vs on my pond all the...

It would had to have been at least Orca sized to make a wave and wake that big (in my estimation), although even if an Orca could have gotten that far inland (which I doubt) I saw nothing...

And I also very much doubt it was just a fish, since even a freakishly large Northern Pike wouldn't have been able to generate a wave/wake that big.
