This was an awesome trip down memory lane.
My grandfather used to own a camera shop when my mom was a kid (1970s). From the photos I’ve seen and stories I’ve heard, all of the walls were lined with vintage cameras and projectors. Sadly, he sold the when they moved to a different state.
About 40 years later (mid 2000s), my mom and uncles organized a trip for a family reunion/tour of where they grew up. We went by the location of the old shop to see if it was there and sure enough, it was. We went in and were telling the owner that my grandfather used to run the store. The owner was flabbergasted. He remembered my mom and uncles, as well as my grandfather. He said he was retiring and that we had shown up on the last day the store was open.
All of the cameras on the walls were still there, with some dating to the 1930s. The new owner said we could take whatever we wanted. He was just going to pack it all up and put it in storage anyway. I got a number of nice Canon lenses, a few old Konica Minolta camera bodies and a vintage 35mm projector.
I’ll definitely have to pull out some of the old photos of the shop and see which Canon cameras were on display so I can dig up some more info on this site.
I've had that happen a couple of times. I think the site is getting a bit more traffic than usual. When it does happen if you get the "Sort by: Newest | Oldest" button in the top right, clicking...

Just a random and interesting part of the internet.
Also learned that canon has their own gTLD.
This is the kind of stuff I expect from the internet.
Well done and thanks for the memories.
