Does anyone know of alternative Spotify client options to reduce the algorithmic clutter

I've been slowly more frustrated by the Spotify client updates particularly on android and short of getting all my music offline which I'd like to do eventually I want an alternative client that isn't going to change the layout constantly and make listening to the music I want to listen to any more difficult than it should be.

I'd also like to filter out podcasts if possible because I have my way of listening to podcasts and spotify filling my home screen with them isn't going to make me any more likely to use them. Especially if they keep fucking pushing podcast episodes featuring deceased family members just to ruin my morning.

Maybe this list will help you. One of my favorite repos :) Would be interesting for which one you gonna settle in the long term!

You can replace the Spotify with a "Liked Songs" or any playlist shortcut. There's also a "Music" filter on top of the home screen, although it doesn't persist through app restarts.

Serious question, but have you considered switching services? I added Qobuz to my streaming ecosystem and I thought Spotify would remain indispensable. Over the last few months, it's become apparent that it was not. The layout, relentless recommended playlists, and totally unrelated podcasts annoy me to no end. It may be fruitful to use a streaming service that more closely aligns with what you want to be presented. I haven't used Tidal or Deezer, but they're also options.

Qobuz on my tablet has two main screens: Discover and My Qobuz. The Discover page is new releases, articles, and awards. Aside from the ability to filter that page by genre and a single weekly playlist, I think it's generic and not algorithmically generated. The "My Qobuz" page is three things: favorites, playlists, recently played. That's it.

I agree that the design of Spotify is flooded with missteps compared to its old format, but I don't think the design is an accident.

Plex Amp is really quite nice but you mostly still have to have a collection of your own
