Huh, I was not expecting that level of self awareness. Running propaganda from someone who openly calls themselves a psy ops specialist in that very propaganda seems like the peak of 2020s “I’m showing authenticity by openly acknowledging my own lack of authenticity” meta marketing. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that the people working on this are actually pretty good at what they do, but I went in expecting something a lot more cheesy and two dimensional.

What are "thirst traps", "SIMPS", and "e-girls"? I know I can Google but those terms seem like the kind of thing that will benefit from personal and context-aware definitions.

If this is a genuine question. These are the definitions for how I understand them:

Thirst trap: posting provocative pictures of yourself, usually half-naked, in order to get a lot of people “thirsting” over you.

Simp: Someone, usually a guy, who does way too much for someone they like. In the context of twitch, as an example, it’s a guy who constantly donates money and/or sends gifts to female streamers.

E-girl: Electronic girl. Basically an influencer. Usually an onlyfans chick but not necessarily the case. Think Belle Delphine or Pokimaine.

Every day I hate that I know all of this.

Oh it was absolutely a genuine question, I'm ignorant of those things. Great response. Thanks ;) Edit: so that Amouranth streamer is an e-girl?

She's also a porn model now, which doesn't help muddy the definition at all, I'm sure.

I don't follow the whole twitch scene much, but wasn't she the prime example of "risque" content that wasn't porn before the recent stuff with the abuse allegations? So unless I missed something, calling her a porn model is misleading as well.

Even then e-girl has had several definitions in the past - including simply girls who were existing in online spaces (such as girls playing/streaming video games) or a very particular aesthetic/look (winged eyeliner, blush, freckles, bright hair colors, striped shirts, etc) - think Belle Delphine. And of course both terms come with baggage/history such as being seen as more approachable by guys in online spaces, but also being used as a gendered insult.

Amouranth definitely does not fit the e-girl aesthetic, but would fit with the more general definition...so...yeah. Clear as mud.

She has had a lot of risque material on Twitch before. She is now an official Playboy model [NSFW] and has an OnlyFans page [NSFW] where she posts regularly. If you care enough, you can probably find porn videos of her – leaked from wherever she posts those – as well.

Yes. A degenerate friend of mine of mine told me that there are erotic videos of Amouranth in well known porn websites. I myself would never open any websites like of this sort, of course.

From what I remember, even those mediums were still limited risque content previously. It looks like the content has changed dramatically though - so definitely looks like I'm out of the loop. I am curious how that fits in with the alleged abuse situation that made the news a few months ago...since it was strongly implied she was being forced to do the risque bikini/hottub streams and couldn't wear regular clothes while streaming.

Anyways thats probably off-topic enough to end there.

Thank you. Is an influencer just somebody that has a public personality? Or do they have to be specifically selling/propagandizing something?

An influencer is necessarily a public personality, but a public personality is not necessarily an influencer. You have to have the clout necessary to be worth promoting something through. Not necessarily an idea, though that's not impossible: usually it's a promotion of a product.

EDIT: It was necessary to use that many "necessaries". Totally.

Got it, thank you! By the way, would you be interested in purchasing some custom handbags? Every stitch is made with love™.

An influencer is someone with a large fanbase whose fame comes predominantly from posting on social media. I think that's a reasonable definition. They could doing modelling, comedy, music, or just posting bad opinions, literally anything at all as long as it's mostly done over social media.

If an influencer has so much mainstream success that it dwarfs their online fame, they kind of 'graduate' to a celebrity and no longer count as influencers. You wouldn't call Justin Bieber or Bo Burnham influencers, even though they both started on YouTube, because they're now MUCH more famous for their albums, shows, stories on mainstream news etc..

One of my friends got approached to do some "micro-influencing" on instagram. She has 230 followers.

Admittedly it wasn't exactly a lucrative deal, if I recall correctly it was some free books in return for posting a few pictures of said books with short reviews and certain hashtags. She has a very good eye for both photography and interior design and is currently doing up her house - so her IG has lots of very nice looking pictures of her very nice looking house.

            She turned them down.
