Testing Spotify's virtual radio host – the service curates a stream of songs I've heard before. Do I really need this?

The general repetitiveness in Spotify recommendations that the author touches on really isn't fine, though. It seems like there's been a noticeable dip in quality over the last 3-6 months, and I'd be interested to know if others have noticed the same? I used to hold Spotify up as an example of personalisation done well, with a really good mix of things I knew and liked, new things similar enough that I'd like them, and a bit of risk taking that sometimes worked and sometimes didn't but was still very worthwhile.

Nowadays my experience with the daily & weekly mixes is similar to the author's: it's just an ever-narrowing rearrangement of things I've already listened to recently.
