It sounds like those settings still work for Google-collected data. However, the lawsuit alleges that the settings should have also applied for the service "Google Analytics for Firebase", as implemented by third-party developers.
On the one hand, I've always understood that Firebase and Google Analytics data are wholly separate from that in my Google account, so I would not have expected those settings to be applicable. On the other hand, Google does own Firebase and are hosting and processing the data, even if it's pseudonymized. They aren't the ones collecting it directly, but that may not matter if they technically violated the language of the setting.
I didn't even know such a thing existed. It's literally a wrapper for Google Analytics? Something that already has an API? Are people that lazy? Geez. No wonder I'm still employed.
