Hard to believe anyone is still using that site voluntarily. Out of curiosity I looked up Friendster and was (only slightly) surprised to see that it finally bit the dust in 2015.

I switched over to Dreamwidth; most of the friends I had on LJ no longer post or have also moved to Dreamwidth. Even so, many people don't do long-form blogging anymore which is a shame because I feel that I made a deeper connection with people through blogging and not through Facebook, Twitter, or other new forms of social media.

But yes, definitely higher reward too.
Every so often I’ll follow a link to LJ from when a DW community used to be hosted there, though, and be like “aw damn look at this place.”
