Unfortunately, the fundamentalist FOSS mentality we encountered on Reddit is still alive and well. Some Linux blogs and Podcasts simply won’t give us the time of day.

And why should they? I think David Power is writing from an unspoken assumption that Linux blogs and podcasts exist to help people like him market their paid, proprietary products. That isn't necessarily the case.

Furthermore, why hide the source from paying customers? I'm not sure about GPLv3 but if I remember correctly, version 2 of the GNU General Public License allowed people selling software to only provide code to people who bought licensed copies.

Furthermore, why isn't Canonical supporting the development of Evolution and evolution-ews? We've had an FOSS Outlook clone for years. It might be clunky and buggy, but that can be fixed by motivated developers.

IIRC, the issue there is that the customers who you give the code to might choose to publish it.

This is a great way to convince me not to buy it. Those VCs will probably pressure you to later change the product in ways I won't like.

    We have ... VCs
