And they recovered from that scandal. The difference with this one is that it is more 'natural' in that there isn't a direct person or organization to blame. The reason for the crash is just due to Wall Street interests and shareholder concerns, not due to user concerns.

Nobody outside of people who own stock in Facebook cares about user growth, so there is no way for them to just put out some apology ads and put a band aid on the problem. Recovering will require massive, fundamental, lasting change to Facebook to attract users again.

And I actually hope they do recover and change for the better. Facebook is actually a powerful tool for communities and the company has developed now-critical infrastructure for people to organize politically, socially, and economically. Without it, I am not sure how communities will be able to organize in the same way they do now. All Facebook needs to do is figure out how manage their own platform so that it isn't abused.

Not surprising. They are probably facing the walls of people not having devices and nation's not allowing access.

At some point they will hit a wall, just because they can't expand their market share anymore, because there aren't enough people and other countries won't allow FB (e.g. China). I think FB is fairly future-proof however, just due to the fact that they own instagram and several other companies.
