Facebook has released information about accounts/pages they banned today due to involvement in a coordinated inauthentic political influence campaign

    It's interesting that Facebook isn't divulging the source behind these groups. They've said it's not the IRA (Internet Research Agency, not the Irish Republican Army) but they haven't said exactly...

    It's interesting that Facebook isn't divulging the source behind these groups. They've said it's not the IRA (Internet Research Agency, not the Irish Republican Army) but they haven't said exactly who. I'd like to think it's because they have ongoing investigations and don't want to tip off the bad actors, but my trust with facebook isn't exactly sky high.

      I think you're misunderstanding what's going on. A lot of these groups are (secretly) being run by people from Russia and other countries, and are organizing protests and similar events solely for the purpose of increasing polarization and conflict in the USA. They're not legitimate groups with these interests, they just know that these topics and events will create friction, so they encourage them.

        A false flag operation, as the conspiracy-minded like to say. Except it's not a fake conspiracy, it's a real conspiracy.
