I'm sorry, but the very first image that comes to my mind is a big red unblinking light. "Open the microwave oven door, Alexa." "I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that." How is it a good idea...

The new devices reflect Amazon's ambition to make its Alexa voice technology ubiquitous by focusing on areas where people spend most of their time — at home and in the car.

How is it a good idea to hook up all your home appliances to a single controller? What if that controller breaks down? It doesn't have to go crazy, it just has to stop working - and suddenly half your home appliances become useless.

Of course, this isn't about providing utility in your home. It's about allowing Amazon to monitor everything you do, so they can infiltrate themselves into your life and become your primary supplier of all goods and services.
