I've met quite too many people whose entire personality is "contrarian unless it benefits me", so I imagine this is going to trigger worse behaviour in those types. Maybe that's not the right way to phrase it. "Skeptical, but only skeptical against actual skepticism"? Or someone with an unhealthy desire to always be the person with "unique deep insights into the real facts", even if it means claiming the earth is flat?

That would be denialism, the ugly stepsister of skepticism.

IMO this is why this type of content should be removed entirely. The argument that it's authoritarian falls on deaf ears with how sanitized youtube in general has become as of late, and the finger-wagging "semitolerance of intolerance" attitude that most big tech companies adopted recently is rapidly becoming part of the problem.

If you want to be a supremacist, contrarian piece of shit, fine, go do it somewhere else.

Usually Wikipedia will auto-lock pages that get a suspicious number of edits, at least that's a behavior I've seen recently. Definitely should have offered some sort of warning, though.

Hmm, they supposedly started putting similar information on the video pages almost a year ago, so I guess this is just doing a similar thing on the search results page. I don't think the info being on the video page was very effective, but maybe people will be more likely to notice it here.

I’m really glad to see YouTube taking some action on this.
