I feel like Reddit have in recent times changed a lot from it's initial design, originally it was meant to be a frontpage for the internet, like a net that only brings you the best fish in the sea that is the internet, but in recent times Reddit have changed to more of a community and joke culture. A recent update they have done to the new.Reddit site reflect the change from a news site to a community based socail media is they changed "subscribe" to "join" and "subreddits" to "communitys" I don't think it's bad they made these changes, it's just diffrent and fitting what there site have change into.
(I'm just going to ignore karma culture)
I’ve also noticed more often that people treat reddit like a blog. They’ll post their review of a game, movie, or whatever on reddit in a self post, whereas people used to link to their actual blog. I also see a lot of “sharing personal stories that are mildly related to the topic” in subs, like “how I got my dad into gaming” on the Nintendo sub.
Reddit is becoming a weird Facebook-like place just with anonymity reduced focus on geographical community
