I think autonomous vehicles are the future and have the potential to be insanely profitable for whichever company working on it comes out ahead in the end... but I honestly hope Uber is not that company. They are unethical, exploitative and are essentially the embodiment of the new Venture Capital driven, "who cares about profit, expand at all costs", "disruptive technology is good, no matter the consequences", techbro ethos... which I loathe. But regardless of my own misgiving about them, I can see how that potential profit down the line could be incredibly tempting as an investor. Undeniably high risk given how fast Uber is losing money (~$1Bn per quarter), but tempting nonetheless.

Funny how Capitalism can completely flip upside-down like that.
