'It's a laughable fiction': How Uber's $82 billion valuation was built on a lie to its workers

I wonder if it would be possible to make a Uber-like company where drivers are actual small business owners with more freedom. For example, you would allow them to set their rates, and the algorithm would locate the best deals.
