Just a small note, Ravelry is NOT a media site for just knitting. It is a "social media" site for knitting and crocheting which are two very distinct forms of crafts. It's an important distinction, as the site is about both. I think it would be pertinent to add that to your title (social media site for knitting and crocheting) because saying it's for knitting is incorrect.

Regardless of semantics, it's interesting to see this happen. I for one do not and rarely have gone on the forums, so I'm not sure if there were issues before this in both what people are talking about, and any offending content creation in terms of patterns. I think it's a step that maybe other places may take, in part because of the choices the administration has been making for both international affairs and the humanitarian crisis that is currently happening with the immigration camps. In general, the crafts/crochet/knitting communities are very open, supporting places. There are so many people from so many different places, that it's not particularly surprising to me that they would take this kind of stance.

Just my few cents, as I know not a lot of people on tildes are actually part of the community, either on ravelry or IRL. Sorry if my post is a little scattered, still collecting my thoughts on it all!

Edits: There are several threads on reddit about this, but r/knitting has one and so does hobbydrama that kind of get into what happened in a little bit more detail
