I like the basic product, the business model, and the business (i.e. Cegłowski), although it's too bad it doesn't evolve at all. Zooming in when using it on my iPad is only a minor pain, though. And I'm happy to subsidize Cegłowski's talks and advocacy work through paying for Pinboard.

Plus, you gotta love stuff like this from a service you are a customer of:

What does the future hold for Pinboard? Death! The bus that one day comes for us all! The skeletal, icy hand on an unprepared shoulder! Pain, a flash of light, then numbing darkness. So back up your bookmarks.

      :-)

I also paid for years, one time I wanted to make use of a feature I was paying for: Exporting an archive of my bookmarks. This feature broke at some point and I couldn't download my bookmarks for over a year, got a response to my support request 14 months later :( In the meantime I did let my premium account expire.

I still like the guy running pinboard and the service itself but I probably won't re-subscribe.

That sucks. It's something he mentions in this update:

The gist of it is, there are more bookmarks, more URLs, more of everything except users. That is because I spent all of 2017 doing tech organizing, and then all of 2018 fundraising for the Congressional elections, and customers grew irate. Now I am trying to win them back.

I still prefer this to stuff from Google or similar that can get shut down (I had to scramble when Google Reader died and was so so happy I had left GMail when they started messing with the inbox) with some bullshit excuse. At least this guy is honest when he fails you.

I've got an original one too. You can have my pinboard account when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.
