Or worse yet, they got scammed again and need you to uninstall the god-knows-whatware that's half in Russian that they installed from "Microsoft support".

What about pointing your relatives to a site like WhatsMyIP.com instead of a 1200+ word article that tries to sell a VPN service?

I disagree. I have plenty of sweet but untechnical friends who ask me questions like this.
