Opera recently introduced something they call Workspaces, which at a casual glance seems very similar to the abandoned Panorama feature in Firefox. Though it requires the sidebar, which I'm not personally a big fan of.

Hopefully if these features get popular it will make Mozilla re-evaluate their Panorama feature. Until then, we do have extensions.

Although I'll admit, I've grown to be comfortable with simply using multiple windows for separate contexts. For example, one has tabs related to short stories I'm reading, one is for the python project, another for the javascript tutorial I've been reading and so on. There's no tagging or anything, it just becomes obvious at a glance which context group this one is and they lie spread across workspaces (linux).

I'm curious as to what other people do to manage their multitude of tabs (which can very easily reach total of ~50 on an average day).

I've been using this for a while. It's handy, but without the ability to collapse groups, it doesn't really serve a purpose unless you're working on a project and will eventually need to close a dozen tabs at once.

It would also be nice to have the option to 'bookmark group'. Eventually it'll get there, but until then, this is largely pointless.

It's surprising that Google hasn't put out something like the tab tree extension for Firefox. That would be a real game changer for folks with a lot of tabs.
