Anyone here using WT.Social?
I gave WT.Social a 'college try' when it first came out. I believe that I lasted a little under one month. The site was such a hot mess that I couldn't tolerate it anymore. More specifically, the layout was bonkers confusing. It was very difficult to navigate and I felt like there was already political cliques forming.
Is anyone here still using it? Have there been any improvements?
It still sends me email, which is how I'm periodically reminded that I made an account there once.
Sometimes I head over there to check it out, but it's always the same UI mess of semi-interesting content it's always been and I close the tab and continue on with my day.
Having exactly the same experience.
I don't understand the UI, I don't understand its focus or primary goals. It's a weird site with seemingly random content and no way to effectively search or make sense of any of it.
Amen.
I tried it went it first launched, a few months after, and a short while ago.
Does not live up to its hype or namesake, seems very confused on what it wants to be.
I could have probably guessed that based on the tagline as a "non-toxic social network."
Any social network that makes its raison d'ĂȘtre something other than just. . . socializing, is going to end up being too pickled in some ideological position to really be much good as a place to hang out. If your motivation is "free speech" you're going to attract too many people whose speech is too noxious to tolerate. If it's "non-toxicity" it's going to be people with probably an overdeveloped sensitivity to slights and contrary perspectives. If it's "high quality discussion" you're going to end up with a lot of people who take themselves way too seriously to the point where it's a drag for anyone else.
These are all certainly design considerations and wishes. You can make them a part of the core value of your network, but if that's your sole motive for even having one then it ends up being a bit like hardcore atheists who were former hardcore evangelicals. There will be a sense of prioritization and perspective/proportion that is missing and the community will end up being unbalanced by dedicated too much energy to niche or unimportant needs.
I truly wanted to like it but I just couldn't get used to it. It is a shame because I have a lot of respect for Jimmy.
Same experience, I've tried it again last week and I was confused what the point of the site was.
I signed up, but honestly just don't spend that much time on social media sites anyway.
I signed up, and I used it for about the same amount of time as you. I also noticed political cliques forming, and due to my political views I attempt to avoid politics outside of Facebook like the plague.
I haven't really been back in a few months.
I tried it, I wanted to like it, but the content is not that good, and it was hard to use. I have gone back and looked again when it sends me reminder emails. Nope, still bad.
