      You could argue that permission is granted to anyone who pays a few bucks for their shoutout. Absolutely tacky though.

        No, there's two separate issues here: there's the acceptance of a few bucks in order to have text and text-to-speech ads show up in the stream. Abusing that is tacky, but not illegal. Then there's...

        No, there's two separate issues here: there's the acceptance of a few bucks in order to have text and text-to-speech ads show up in the stream. Abusing that is tacky, but not illegal. Then there's the use of the video of the streamers to sell a product without a contract with them to use their image for profit. That's illegal, and also in poor taste.
