This is not a privacy policy update
Does it seem like every service, app or subscription you've signed up for is sending you a privacy policy update? It's all because of the General Data Protection Regulation, aka the "GDPR," a sweeping new European regulation taking effect this Friday.
GDPR has implications for many organizations, and that includes Mozilla. But unlike other organizations, Mozilla has always stood for and practiced data privacy principles that are at the heart of privacy laws like the GDPR. It feels like the rest of the world is catching up to where we've been all along.
Mozilla may make some bad decisions ocassionally... but it's nice to see that they generally work in the users's interest.
I really don't understand why they are doing this. You don't have to comply on 25th, it's enough if you just have a plan and you have at least started to implement it.

Furthermore, I'm willing to bet they haven't deleted any data either. It doesn't matter if people can't use the site, it matters whether or not Instapaper is storing any data about its European users.

All the more reason to switch to Mozilla’s Pocket which is GDPR compliant already, as are all their products. I have been using Pocket ever since switching back to Firefox after Quantum was released since it’s built right in and it’s great!

Yeah, exactly. To be honest I think it seems that they have only now realized how big the impact of GDPR will be and are panicking because of it.
