    It's quite long but well worth the read IMO. It's refreshing to finally see a pretty thorough counter argument to the manic levels of hype surrounding crypto-currencies and blockchain technology.

    As a society, and as technologists and entrepreneurs in particular, we’re going to have to get good at cooperating — at building trust, and, at being trustworthy. Instead of directing resources to the elimination of trust, we should direct our resources to the creation of trust—whether we use a long series of sequentially hashed files as our storage medium or not.

    Also, that's a rather appropriate statement to be made on Tildes given it's pretty much the founding principles here. :)

    I've been fascinated by blockchain technology for many years, but it's only in the past year that it's gone from "idle curiosity" to "this is toxic beyond belief."

    If for no other reason than the environment, I hope it's widespread usage dies soon.
