How memes became a major vehicle for misinformation

    I think it is interesting that so much of the focus of this article is on how algorithms, AI, or human moderation could be used to stem the tide of misinformation memes and there is no discussion of deplatforming. One quick thing that Facebook could do is remove all of their COVID misinformation pages / groups for instance, same for all the militia movements, boogaloo groups, antivax movements, etc. Removing these pages (or subreddits on Reddit, profiles on Twitter, etc.) would go a huge way to stopping these movements and reduce their influence. I just don't understand the focus on individual meme identification and removal when there are more systemic actions that can be taken that would be far more impactful.
