Ultimately it's up to you and whoever you can find to agree on how to divide the work.

But you're probably looking for someone who cares about publishing the knowledge of bible scholars, seems reliable (will be around for a while), and knows more about running a website than you. Trust is probably the most important aspect of it.

At least, that's if you want free help. There are probably lots of people who could set up a website if you're paying them to do it.

No need to break it down into so many pieces, I was just wishing you well.

Besides helping share the load, one of the other major benefits of having a co-maintainer is that if (God forbid) something should happen to you, the maintainer, it will hopefully allow the project to continue going afterwards. So that should probably also be a consideration in whether or not you want to take on a co-maintainer as well, @suspended.

And worth noting is that even if you can't find someone willing/able to co-develop/moderate/maintain the site along with you, you should at least consider finding someone who would be able to find someone else who could continue those things if something should happen to you.

As for how to find someone like that, that's a tough question. It'll need to be someone you know and trust, and someone who is both familiar with the project, its goals, etc. and also willing to take on the responsibility that you would be asking of them. And IMO it's probably better to start looking closer to home for that. E.g. In your case, perhaps by asking amongst the other bible scholars you know who are already invested in the project in some way.

NP. And worth mentioning is that the vast majority of projects never take on co-maintainers, and they're largely fine without them (barring unforeseen circumstances). But if AskBibleScholars.com does take off, and you do want it to continue after you're gone or done with it, then looking for a co-maintainer is something you should more strongly consider at that point. For now though, it might just be overthinking and overcomplicating things, TBH. ;)

Also, it means you can take time off and someone will watch over the site until you come back. (Assuming it becomes important enough that it matters; it probably isn't, at first.)
